Paul Ormsby
Managing Director
Paul Ormsby is a Managing Director at STS Capital Partners, having previously served as Senior Vice President of Operations. In that role, Paul built and led STS’ growing Execution team, driving operational excellence and scaling the firm’s internal processes, support functions, and services to meet the company’s expanding needs.
In his current role as Managing Director, Paul applies this operational foundation to support STS’ strategic partnerships, working closely with leadership to enable Extraordinary Exits™ for mid-size private business owners.
With decades of experience in the global defense and security industry, Paul advises on complex M&A transactions, contributing to transaction strategy, diligence, and legal coordination to drive successful outcomes for clients.
Engaged globally, Paul has established networks across key domains including government, aerospace, defense, finance, capital providers, think tanks, medical services, intelligence organizations, and software. A lifelong aviator, he also brings extensive experience in aviation operations and experimental flight testing.
Paul held senior command roles, including leadership of a $7 billion aircraft fleet acquisition delivered on time and on budget. As Chief of Staff of the Acquisition Group, he oversaw day-to-day operations of a $6 billion organization, guiding senior managers and directors.
For two years at the Pentagon, Paul served as executive liaison between the U.S. Chairman of the Joint Chiefs of Staff and Canada’s Chief of the Defense Staff. He also led the year-long redesign of the North American Aerospace Defense Command’s command-and-control operating practices.
As Defense Attaché to the United States, Paul was asked by the Defense Intelligence Agency to chair the Washington Corps of Defense Attachés, acting as lead representative for more than 125 international attachés in Washington.
He holds a Master’s Degree from Kings College (London, UK) in international relations and a Bachelor of Science degree from the University of Toronto.
