Rob Follows
Founding Chairman & CEO
Rob has combined his education, ten years of entrepreneurial leadership and fifteen years of international corporate experience with his passion for helping people live their vision and founded STS Capital Partners in 2003. As an international, mid-range mergers and acquisitions firm, STS focuses on helping entrepreneurs and family business owners on their path from Success To Significance™ by maximizing value for shareholders in the sale of their businesses to strategic investors; as well as helping investors to find strategic investment opportunities internationally. Rob has advised on thousands of successful M&A transactions in North America, Latin America, the Caribbean, Europe and Asia-Pacific.

Prior to founding STS, Rob had sold his award winning Canadian promotional marketing agency, AIM (Active Impressions in Marketing), to Maritz Inc., in 1992, and went on to form and chair Maritz Canada Inc. by successfully combining AIM with four other operating divisions in Canada and leading the company’s financial turnaround. He then led Maritz’ global account strategy with blue chip clients in North America, Latin America, Europe and Asia; and ultimately became responsible for all of Maritz’ international operations as Chairman of Maritz Europa, Maritz Canada and Maritz Latin America, with full responsibility for 2,000 employees and approx. $1 billion in revenues. Rob was a Corporate Officer of Maritz Inc., a $3 billion private enterprise.

Rob is also the founding Chairman of Altruvest Charitable Services, a registered Canadian charity, established in 1994, focused on improving the performance of charitable organizations by providing training and tools to enhance the governance of charitable boards and thereby increasing their capacity to give more to their causes. BoardMatch Leaders™, BoardMatch Fundamentals™ and BoardMatch Leadership Development™ are some of the programs delivered by Altruvest (www.altruvest.org). During an Advanced Leadership Program at Oxford University’s Templeton College, Rob received an academic sponsorship to do a Ph.D. at Oxford; the focus of his thesis was corporate philanthropic strategy.

In 1998, Rob received a Top 40 Under 40 leadership award for the work he had done in creating 1,000 new jobs in Canada, as well as founding and growing Altruvest Charitable Services which has now contributed over $10 million since its establishment. At the time of the turnaround of Maritz Canada, when it recorded the highest growth and ROI of any Maritz company, the Canadian company was recognized as of the 50 Best Companies to Work for in Canada, as determined by its employees.

Rob was former Chair of the YPO-WPO (Young President’s Organization/World President’s Organization) Global Deal Network, with over 4,500 deal focused CEOs, and founding Chair of the Barbados YPO Chapter; and alumni of the Toronto, St. Louis, Mexico City, Intercontinental and London YPO Chapters. Rob was also founding Chair of the Executive Committee of the Social Enterprise Networks and has contributed to elevating the profile of philanthropy, humanitarian causes, social enterprise, sustainable business, economic development and sustainable communities at the international board level.
